In 1974, the company BLOCK began trading in ophthalmological equipment and instruments. In the same year, the range was expanded to include furnishings. From that point on, ophthalmologists and optometrists were offered the entire range of ophthalmological equipment and instruments, as well as the complete interior fittings, such as floor coverings, curtains and furniture, sanitary ware, tiles, lamps, partition walls, doors and ceilings. In addition, a separate planning and customer service department was created. This step made BLOCK one of the first companies in the ophthalmological industry in the Federal Republic of Germany to specialise in the complete furnishing and equipping of ophthalmologists and optometrists.
Over the years, BLOCK quality units such as CT, Vario, Duoline, Titan, Opal, Onyx, Jade, Solitair or – as the latest addition to an extensive product range – the Innovario refraction unit have been developed in collaboration with ophthalmologists and opticians. In addition, BLOCK produces phoropter rails, phoropter arms, electric device carriers, mirror systems and contact lens tables. The production of individual items of furniture and registration desks, card index cabinets, sideboards, desks and desk substructures customised to customer requirements is also of great importance.
The number of employees in the BLOCK Group, including sales, administration and production, has grown considerably since the early years, in line with the company’s development. Engineers, mechatronics engineers, designers, programmers, technicians, mechanics, electricians and carpenters all contribute to the production of the entire BLOCK product range in premium quality. The commercial staff ensure smooth, perfectly organised sales at home and abroad. Our own development and production department creates technically and ergonomically innovative concepts and takes them through to realisation. In collaboration with employed and freelance architects and designers, pioneering solutions are created.
